We understand sustainability as a definitive premise for the optimal and prosperous development of the archipelago and as a universal existential bastion. Thus, we promote sustainability as a cardinal strategy in all development activities and social, economic and cultural progress, at the same time that we promote sustainability as a fundamental value whose impact and benefits go beyond the natural environment and people of the Canary Islands.

Our proposal for sustainability as a development strategy and a fundamental value can only be understood with a view to achieve an impact beyond the Canary Islands archipelago. Thus, our work must necessarily be situated within the internationalist framework of solidarity, democracy and humanism that founded the project of the common European space to which we belong.

In this way, under the international dimension of our Archipelago Project (soon available at www.thearchipelagoproject.eu), we will join efforts, experiences and knowledge inside and outside of Europe in order to to promote a change of model towards sustainability in island and coastal territories at a global level.
